I’m not a chef. I’m barely a cook. I’m mostly just some lady with opinions. I don’t have a food scale or a thermometer and I try to shop reasonably at the grocery store. I know my favorite burger will never be made with my own two hands but recently I’ve thought, how close can I get?
In the process of eating a lot of burgers I’ve come to not only develop a lot of preferences, but I’ve started Frankensteining meals in my Burger Mind Palace (BMP): this burger would be perfect with the pickles from two restaurants ago, this bun would’ve actually made sense at the place I ate at right before Christmas that had all those toppings, etc.
So when I started off the process of mastering the Burger Diva Home Burger ™, there were things I knew I wanted. A potato bun, a thicker patty with a crust and a juicy medium cook, pickles, white onion. Then came variables: do I go Martins or should I try to seek out a bakery? Can I make my own? What cuts of meat do I want? Do I want to cook my onion? Do I go for a sauce? Just mayo?
But since we all need a starting point here was mine:
