I’m usually a hot dog girl at the ballpark, though I’ve yet to complete a 9-9-9 challenge. But with all the commotion over the food selection at Citi Field, I felt compelled to burger it up.
There are a handful of specialty burgers touted by the concessions:
Adam Richman’s Burger Hall of Fame has the Jucy Lucy (stuffed with cheese) and the Fiesta Burger which frankly…didn’t call out to me
NY Panini has the Doubleheader Panini which is a burger and a SMASHED HOT DOG with all the fixings
The choice seemed obvious to me, a real best of both worlds situation. But when I got to the counter and asked for this sans American cheese, I discovered that none of these guys are made to order and therefore cannot be altered…crushed, humiliated, etc. So my friend Alexa got this one to try out and I got the classic burger from the concession stand, side of Nathan’s crinkle-cut fries and all for about $18.

The Citi Field burger comes with Bun. Potato bun for the sake of specifics. I grabbed mayo and ketchup packets to dress her myself.
Honestly this burger ruled. It was perfectly fatty and salty, sized somewhere between a regular burger and a slider. Not small enough to do a 9-9-9 but maybe a 3 or 4 times over iteration. It reminded me of the kind of plain jane burger you’d get at a pool or beach concession stand. A little greasy but the perfect thing to eat while you bake in the sun.
PLUS, right after I ate this burger I got to see Captain Sully throw out the first pitch. I’m not exaggerating when I say as the pre-announcement clip package played, everyone around me started putting 2 and 2 together and lost their MINDS. And then the Mets won. Kind of a perfect afternoon.
I’m ranking the Citi Field burger at 37, between Nowon and Hamburger America, with the caveat that I would eat a million of these and not get tired of it. LGM!
there’s Alexa hey I know her 😌
Go Phils 😤❤️
