The Sunday night burger might be the perfect way to start your week in every single season. Autumn you have the newfound chill in the air and changing foliage, in winter you’re warmed from the inside out with a glass of red and a full belly, summer you get to walk home with the light of day still on your face and of course spring’s walk home is surrounded by fresh blooms and an optimistic pep in your step.

I had the good fortune of having a spring Sunday burger at Henry Public in Cobble Hill, just off the bustling Atlantic Avenue and a couple blocks east of the piers. I was joined by my friend Emily, who lives nearby and has advocated for the Henry Public burger since the inception of Burger Diva.
This saloon-style establishment is my fourth straight wood paneled restaurant I’m writing up - if it ain’t broke etc etc. The menu here is really straight forward - burger with cheese, or bacon, or cheese AND bacon, a turkey leg sandwich, oysters and one (1) salad make up most of the fare here.
I ordered my burger and french-fried potatoes, $22 all together, and a martini with a twist. Our food arrived pretty quickly, with a tall pub style patty enveloped in a freshly baked and toasted bun with pickles off to the side. As I shared in The Lions Bar write up, I’ve come to appreciate pickles coming with the burger instead of on the burger so they stay crunchy longer. I popped a little mayo on the bottom bun before digging in.
This burger was an absolute juice bomb, but unlike the Peter Luger burger, all that excess managed to stay contained to the bite itself. The bun was pillowy yet sturdy keeping mess to a minimum. A small touch that I really liked was that I could taste the butter they toasted the buns with. Henry Public boasts grass-fed beef and organic dairy so I was glad I could fully experience both, even if the latter was in the minutiae of this meal. While the burger had an impressive stature, it didn’t feel heavy or greasy.

I’m placing the Henry Public burger at number 10, under the Strange Flavor Chop burger and above Virginia’s. If I wasn’t tasked (by me (this is my own fault)) with constantly trying new spots, I would definitely return here regularly, with friends or solo with a book. Try it out for your next Sunday reset dinner and get blissed out in a burger.
The Turkey Leg Sandwich there is sooo good too!
